Product Passionate, Dog Dad
Connor Leinbach, one of our U.S.-based Product Owners, has been with RLDatix Life Sciences for over two years and has shown extensive career growth during that time.
From supporting product launches to improving processes like enhancing the Contracting Module, he showcases our core value of Customer-Focused. We sat down with Connor to chat about life at RLDatix Life Sciences, his career journey so far, and what he’s been up to outside of work.
What led you to join the team?
Before joining RLDatix (initially part-time to assist in data migration), Connor worked as an Associate General Manager at a local restaurant. Technology was always something he was passionate about, and he talks about that transition:
“I wanted to do something outside of the restaurant industry and this job was put in my path. It also allowed me to be at home with my (at that point) new puppy and train her. I always felt that I would be good working with technology and this job provided me with an opportunity that I felt was closed to me at the time.”
What keeps you here?
Connor shares some of the parts of working here that stand out from the pack:
“The schedule and flexibility to be able to achieve an acceptable work-life balance. Being next to my dog every day is a huge plus too! So far, there has been continued growth and I look forward to the new challenges ahead.”
He also credits how much he enjoys working with his team:
“My team is a very effective unit. We communicate with each other on what we need to do and execute within our own responsibilities within the product. I feel very comfortable working with the people on my team and a lot of my continued success can be attributed to our teamwork.”
What does your current role entail?
As Product Owner, Connor’s role includes planning and executing sprints, maintaining the product backlog, facilitating the Support Board, and Regression Testing for sprint tickets in UAT. He supports our product releases and provides accurate and correct documentation for each release.
What has your career trajectory here looked like?
Connor was first hired part-time to help with document migration and then moved into a full-time Product Specialist role. That role allowed him to learn the ins and outs of properly diagnosing support tickets and how to implement and demo the product.
Eventually, he moved into the Life Sciences department, where he credits members of the team with mentoring him and fostering his career growth:
“I really started to grow and began helping steer where the product was going. Shane, Gaurav, and Theo pushed me within the product to be more productive and expand my perception beyond Life Sciences and who we help.”
Do you have any advice for people looking to join the Product field themselves?
“Do not limit yourself by what you have done in the past. Look forward to what you could potentially achieve and work hard to make that a reality.”
Connor also shares a big lesson he’s learned in his career:
“Communicating often is necessary in order to function effectively.”
Outside of work, what are you up to? Tell us a bit about yourself!
During his free time, Connor loves to fish, barbeque, cook, and read (Dune is his current favorite). Escaping to the peace and quiet of Potter Country, PA, is also a favorite pastime, describing it as a place to “not feel the pressure of the rest of world’.
He’s also a dog Dad to a Shetland Sheepdog named Pearl who “on occasion, makes her presence known to others on meetings,” which always delights members of his team.
