Compassionate Credentialing Collaborator for Patient-Safety
Angela Halbrook, our Manager, Credentialing Services, has been with RLDatix for 3.5 years because joining our team meant pairing her experience in healthcare with a mission-driven environment that puts safer care at the center.
She saw how joining our Credentialing department would mean she was able to make an even bigger impact on healthcare organizations and the communities they serve. We took a moment to ask Angela about her story, her work, and the passions that keep her busy after work.
What led you to join TeamRLD?
Angela has spent over 20 years in the healthcare field, with the majority spent in Credentialing and Medical Staff Services. Over time, working alongside exceptional providers and medical staff professionals has only deepened her appreciation for the field.
Her first encounter with RLDatix came long before she joined the company. While working in Medical Staff Services within a healthcare system, her team used our Safety & Risk Management solution. She recalls being genuinely impressed by the software and the focus on improving safety. So, when a role opened in the Credentialing Department, it immediately caught her eye.
“I wanted to be part of an organization that prioritizes patient safety,” she reflects, noting that making the leap has proven to be one of the best decisions of her career.
What’s it like working on your immediate team?
For Angela, her team is like “being part of a work family.” They regularly laugh together, celebrate each other’s successes, and step up to support one another. Angela’s favorite part is the strong sense of camaraderie and collaboration that has developed over time, making their work both effective and genuinely enjoyable.
What keeps you working here?
Her top reasons are our people, purpose, and culture, but she continues explaining how our team’s commitment to living our values combined with the support from leadership makes RLDatix a place where employees and customers truly feel valued.
“Our team consistently demonstrates the RLDatix values of Lead, Team, Deliver, and Respect through their daily efforts and dedication to high-quality work,” she remarks. She also underscores the strong, caring leadership she’s experienced and the genuine commitment to employee well‑being and success. Additionally, she mentions RLGreatix, our recognition program, further strengthening this environment by celebrating contributions and fostering a culture of appreciation, teamwork, and respect, which makes the work we do feel both collaborative and energizing.
What does your role at RLDatix entail?
Angela leads a team that partners with health systems across five states—California, Massachusetts, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Wisconsin—supporting a total of 28 locations. Together, they process healthcare provider credentialing applications and keep an unwavering focus on quality and compliance.
Angela describes her team’s work as a balance between precision and urgency. They are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards while also striving for the shortest possible turnaround times, so that providers can begin seeing patients and delivering care as soon as possible.
What are your favorite achievements so far?
Instead of pointing to a single large initiative, Angela mentions the times that customers have reached out to share appreciation for her team’s support. She explains that those conversations are some of the most rewarding moments because they reinforce that the work her team does every day has a direct impact on the quality and safety of patient care.
What originally inspired you to work in Credentialing?
“What inspires me most about credentialing is its critical role in ensuring patient safety, as it serves as a vital process before providers begin delivering care,” she emphasizes.
Credentialing is complex, but that’s part of what draws her in. She describes it as a critical process that safeguards patient safety, supports organizations in meeting regulatory and accreditation standards, and helps mitigate compliance risks by ensuring that clinicians have the appropriate qualifications, experience, and credentials—a vital safeguard for patients and organizations alike. “Knowing that our work contributes to safe, high-quality patient care is incredibly meaningful and fulfilling,” she notes.
Do you have any advice for people looking to join the field themselves?
For those considering a career in credentialing, Angela offers thoughtful guidance:
“If you enjoy tackling complex challenges, like working with people, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this field might be a natural fit.”
Success in credentialing “requires adaptability, meticulous attention to detail, and continuous learning.” The reward is working to directly support patient safety and quality care, even if that work happens mostly behind the scenes.
Outside of work, what are you up to? Tell us a bit about yourself!
“I love photography and enjoy capturing moments in my free time,” she shares. Whether it’s a family gathering, a scenic view while traveling, or everyday moments at home, she finds joy in preserving memories behind the lens.
At home, she has two rituals that are particularly special to her: first, she cuddles with her 100-pound “lap dog,” and second, relaxes by the koi pond her husband built. This simple, peaceful routine balances the fast-paced nature of credentialing and is how she unwinds after work.
