What keeps you working at RLD?

August’s first job out of college was with us and he hasn’t looked back since. In these past 15 years, two things have made the biggest difference: the work and the people.

1. The work keeps him engaged because it is varied, interesting, and challenging, while also making a meaningful impact for clients and the patient populations they support.
2. “The people here care about what they do” and consistently show up to support one another and their clients."

These have been the biggest reasons for why he’s enjoyed being part of Team RLD! 

What does your role at RLDatix entail?

In his current role, August supports our Australia based Data Migration team. He explains that the team provides Data Migration services for clients in the APAC region going through transitions to a new Electronic Medical Record. The team is responsible for “extracting the data from the client's legacy EMR and loading it into the go forward EMR,” helping to ensure clients can move forward with the information they need in their new systems.

His role also extends into supporting new opportunities. August partners with the sales team by speaking with prospective clients and helping scope new data migration projects, bringing both technical experience and a practical understanding of what successful migration work requires.

What has your career trajectory at RLDatix looked like?

Professional growth has played an important role in his experience and his career path has reflected this. August remarks, “RLDatix supports professional growth from within, which is something I have been fortunate enough to experience in my tenure here.”

He has held several roles across multiple teams, remembering “I was hired on a non-technical team and expressed interest in a more technical role.” That interest led him to the data migration team, where he spent several years before taking on a leadership role. 

What is one of your favorite projects so far?

For August, the most rewarding projects are the ones that push the team into new territory. Rather than point to one specific project, he describes his favorite type of work as “one where we do something we haven't done before.”

That sense of discovery is a big part of what keeps the role interesting. Whether the team is learning a new legacy system, working with a new data element, or exploring new functionality within conversion tooling, August explains that many projects bring the opportunity to learn something new. 

What’s it like working on your immediate team?

August describes his team as deeply collaborative and supportive. “One of the best things about this team is how much people have each other's back,” he shares. Everyone is focused on delivering excellent results for clients, whether that means owning their own work or stepping in to support someone else’s.

For August, that willingness to help is not just a nice part of the culture; it is central to how the team succeeds.

What is your favorite part of working in Professional Services?

The variety of the work is one of August’s favorite parts of being in Data Migration Services. He describes the work as “challenging and varied,” adding that “no two projects or days are the same.”

That constant sense of learning keeps him engaged, but the impact of the work matters just as much. August shares that “it is also a good feeling to know that our work helps improve the clinician's experience,” which can ultimately help support better outcomes for patients.

Do you have any advice for people looking to join the field themselves?

For anyone interested in data migration or healthcare IT, August emphasizes the importance of precision. As the team works with large amounts of healthcare data, attention to detail is critical.

Outside of work, what are you up to? Tell us a bit about yourself!

In his free time, August likes golfing, running and spending time with family and friends. His wanderlust takes him to anywhere he hasn’t been before because he loves his travel destinations to always be an adventure.

And his move from the U.S. to Australia to help build and support our team there has been his latest adventure.
