Matt Marnell

Multidimensional Project Manager

Matt Marnell, our Melbourne-based Workforce Consulting Manager. Since joining RLDatix nearly 4 years ago, Matt has brought a thoughtful, solutions-focused approach to project delivery, helping customers navigate complexity and drive meaningful outcomes. We caught up with Matt to learn more about his journey, the role he plays in helping advance safer, smarter healthcare operations, and what he enjoys outside of work.

Why did you decide to join RLDatix?

For Matt, joining RLDatix was about being part of something meaningful. He was drawn to the opportunity to support the health sector in a way that goes beyond day-to-day operations and helps create better outcomes before issues arise. As he explains, “Making a difference within Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and daily routines within the health sector, the risk and compliance side of capturing and mitigating risks before they occur and being able to rely on meaningful data to change the outcome course is something RLDatix strives for daily.”

What keeps you working here?

For Matt, it comes down to the people and the way the team works together. “The GRC team is extremely collaborative and have a team first mentality which makes daily work life quite easy,” he shares. He also values RLDatix’s agility, noting that “accommodating change and being able to flex processes and procedures to achieve the best project and client outcome” is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

What does your role at RLDatix entail?

Matt’s role centers on leading projects from kickoff through completion, making sure timelines, resources, budgets, and risks stay on track throughout the process. He works across both the operational and delivery side of projects, helping ensure the right plans, structure, and governance are in place from the start.

He also partners closely with customers and internal teams to keep projects aligned to scope, expectations, and overall goals. From supporting smooth delivery to addressing issues as they arise, Matt plays an important role in helping projects run effectively and creating a strong experience for clients.

Matt’s new role within the Workforce team centers in on implementation consultant team management, as well as education/training and process improvement to benefit the wider team.

What is one of your favorite projects so far?

One project that stands out most for Matt was a go-live he supported alongside the consulting team. Matt recalls, “Handling the go-live and working with the customer's team as well as our consulting team was quite an achievement.”

It’s the kind of milestone that reflects not only the scale of the work, but also the teamwork and commitment behind a successful delivery.

What’s it like working on your immediate team?

He describes the enterprise Project Management (PM) team as a group that pushes one another in the best way: “Working with the enterprise PM team is great in that we challenge and collaborate with each other quite well, constantly attempting to improve process and culture.”

What inspired you to work in Professional Services - Project Management Office (PMO)?

What started as an unexpected opportunity became a career direction that brought together his project management experience and the fast-moving world of healthcare technology. Matt’s path into PMO wasn’t entirely planned, which is part of what makes his story interesting.

He notes, “My background retail and facility/construction project management for a number of years, having fell into Healthcare IT from a personal friendship that eventuated into a project management position.”

Outside of work, what are you up to? Tell us a bit about yourself!

Matt stays just as active as he is on the job. Fitness is a big part of his life, and he enjoys swimming, surfing, and golf when he gets the chance. Most of all, though, his time revolves around family.

We also asked Matt to share what he’s been reading, listening to, or watching lately, along with a few of his favorite places to visit.

Matt's Current Favorites

  • Book: Radical Candor by Kim Scott
